Maintaining our well-being is foundational to being able to do this work. What public defenders need to sustain well-being are strategies in three area:(1) Individual strategies and practices to promote wellness and to mitigate inevitable impacts of trauma. (2) Strategies to build public defense culture that supports well-being. (3) Systemic strategies to reduce obstacles to providing highest levels of representation. This session will focus on strategies to build supportive public defense culture, such as: mentorship, trauma-informed practice and training and supervision, and well being programs and initiatives within public defense agencies."
